Atlanta Women’s Action for New Directions (WAND)
Hello, I am Amanda Hill, the Development Director for Atlanta Women’s Action for New Directions (WAND). I am here to stop the “Bombplex”. I am an electrical engineer. I graduated from Georgia Tech in 1992. I worked as an engineer for TRW – Electronics and Defense and as an aerospace technologist for NASA. I mention this so that you know that I understand. I understand this industry and I understand government contracts. I have sat through many, many power-points justifying project over-expenditures, missed milestones, and delayed schedules. After awhile you forget about what your ‘end product’ is and what your objective was in the first place… and sadly it becomes all about the money… and this is only about the money.
I am here to remind you what your end product is, what your end gain is…. the annihilation of the human race. Your end objective violates the international treaty that will destroy the integrity of our voice in the world. These are weapons of mass destruction, destruction of women and children. You can not say that we will not use these weapons and they that are only a deterrent– I don’t believe you…we already have used them… the photographs of the violence of the Hiroshima bomb are on display in the other room.
This is not about defending our country. This is not about keeping us safe, and it is certainly not a deterrent. You can not WAGE WAR to CREATE PEACE and you can not build nuclear weapons to achieve security and safety. Please stop the Complex Transformation. Thank you.
