The theme for DC Days 2008 is “COMMUNITIES IN THE CROSSHAIRS: Nuclear Weapons, Power, & Waste Target Our Security & Environment.” This year we will work to:
  • Increase funding and improve environmental cleanup standards
  • Stop research and development of new nuclear weapons
  • Oppose new nuclear bomb production plants – Support Nonproliferation
  • Stop the nuclear waste dump at Yucca Mountain
  • Prevent the dirty, dangerous and expensive reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel
  • Support long-term environmental protection at DOE sites
  • Promote safe solutions for plutonium disposal
This is an especially important year for the future of the nuclear weapons complex, nuclear power, and environmental cleanup. The big push to expand nuclear operations is upon us, endangering our communities’ security and environment. Simultaneously, the Energy Department remains steadfast in its efforts to reduce its obligations to clean up the contamination from past operations. Now more than ever, it is critical that our voices are heard loud and clear.
